Jackie called our meeting to order at 11:40 a.m. Twenty- seven members were in attendance. Jackie thanked everyone for their work in the garden and let us know our efforts are making a big difference. She also thanked our hostesses.

APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES: Jackie Cushman

As there were no corrections to the meeting minutes from September’s meeting, they were approved as submitted.

SPEECH SCHOOL WORKDAY: Jackie Cushman

The workday at the Speech School is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th.

AMARYLLIS PROJECT: Wawa Hines

Since there will not be a Flower Show this year we will have a Mimosa only competition with Amaryllis plants. Everyone should order a kit (3 different varieties: Ice Queen/Red Lion/Dancing Queen) and plant in January. The last day to order a kit will be November 11th and members can place orders at the meeting that day. Kits will be hand-delivered. Everyone should take photos of their flowers in bloom and email them to Esther Garges. Prizes will be awarded at the March meeting. The kits cost $25. To order, please make checks payable to Esther Garges and mail to her: 2290 Ivy Crest Lane, Atlanta, GA  30339.

Jackie thanked Guerry Redmond for taking member photos at the September and October meetings and for her time spent editing the photos.

OTHER BUSINESS: Jackie Cushman

The announcement was made that annual dues in the amount of $50 are due now. Members can give checks to Jackie, mail checks to Sandy Jones, or pay online. The November meeting will be held at Kendrick Williams’home on November 11th.

ATLANTA HISTORY CENTER UPDATE: Jackie Cushman introduced Sarah Roberts from the Atlanta History Center. Sarah thanked the members for their work in the Quarry Garden and spoke about the success of the Bartram Exhibition. She also discussed the exciting progress made in the Quarry Garden and at the History Center and future plans for the center.

Jackie Cushman announced there would be a drawing for a door prize after lunch. The meeting concluded at 11:55 for lunch.
