WELCOME / CALL TO ORDER:  Margaret Warren
Margaret welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 10:30am; she reminded members to sign in and please put your name in the basket for our door prize.

ANNOUNCEMENTS / MEMBER UPDATES:  Margaret Warren

Unfortunately, we have had another loss in the Mimosa family.  Mary Ann McKinney Frazier passed away on Saturday, May 13th. Funeral services for Mary Ann will be held this Thursday, May 18th at the Cathedral of St. Philip at 11:00am.  Please join me in keeping Mary Ann’s family in your prayers.  Mimosa will make a donation in Mary Ann’s memory to Hospice Atlanta.

Margaret introduced and welcomed our three new members: Blain Ashmore Allen, Katie Stembler Bockstedt, and Jennifer Frazier Hill.  We are so excited to have them here, and we welcome them into our Mimosa family.

Lindsey Sones reminded everyone of the rescheduled Urban Bike Tour with Mildred Spalding, Lindsey Sones and Sarah Kennedy.  Email Mildred if interested.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  Margaret Warren
Today, we will be approving the minutes from the April meeting, which have been posted on the website.  There was a motion to approve the minutes as submitted, a second, and all voted in favor. The minutes stand approved.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Vice President (Hostess Chart) – Jinny Keough – The hostess chart for 2017-2018 is filled.

Membership & Dues – Lindsey Sones – dues are 100% paid.

Treasurer – Jo Phelps – no report; Margaret mentioned our sincere appreciation to Jo for stepping into the role of Treasurer for the remainder of this year, and into the 2017-2018 year.

Speech School – Karen Brown, Caroline Davis – no report

Quarry Garden – Parker Tekin, Louise Moore – The garden contains many rare and unusual plants and the largest collection of GA native plants in the state. They offered a huge thanks to Mimosa for our support.

Flower Show (also known as Amaryllis Project) – Leslie Morgan, Sharena Hall – no report

State Garden Club Liaison – Mary Huntz – Be sure to vote for Atlanta Botanical on the Fulton Federation of Garden Clubs website.

Website – Margaret Glenn – no report

NEW BUSINESS:  Margaret Warren
Margaret officially turned gavel over to Jinny.  She acknowledged the committee chairs, and thanked them for their service this year.  In particular, she thanked the recent past presidents (Mary Huntz, Jackie Cushman, and Emily Jordan) and incoming president, Jinny Keough, who she leaned on heavily this year.

PROGRAM:  Shelby Drinkard / Nancy Powell introduced our speaker, Kim Wilson, owner of Lucy’s Market.

  1. Lucy’s Market started in a gas station on Roswell Road.
  2. Her journey as an entrepreneur has lead to success followed by the new location at East Andrews
  3. Creating Memories through holiday décor does not have to be pricey. Just get creative. They have a wide range of options.
