Program: We had a guided tour of the new outdoor forest space reclaimed by Fernbank. President and CEO of Fernbank, Jennifer Grant Werner, spoke about all the programs and exhibits that Fernbank has to offer the community.
WELCOME / CALL TO ORDER: Jinny Keough. She reminded us to sign in and enter the raffle. And she thanked our hostesses and Wawa for organizing the tour.
ANNOUNCEMENTS / MEMBER UPDATES: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The February minutes have been posted on the club website. Minutes were approved.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Vice President (Hostess Chart) – Lindsey Sones – The hostess list for 2018-19 will be posted on the website. Remember that hostesses are responsible for securing the venue for meetings.
Membership & Dues – Leslie Morgan did not have anything to report.
Treasurer – Jo Phelps was not present and nothing to report.
Speech School – Maggie Fischer – The speech school garden is still in a holding pattern with construction delayed because of weather. Maggie will update us when there is anything new to report.
Quarry Garden – Tricia Allen – The quarry garden is coming alive, and a photographer will take pictures of it, soon. There’s a list of new perennials. They are replanting the tulip poplar. There is an exhibit on until mid-July, which has pictures of past WWI battlefields that have turned into places of peace.
Flower Show –Emily Jordan had nothing to report.
Garden Club of Georgia- Mary Huntz reminded us of the children’s book about the growth of a pumpkin seed. She has several left, and they are $11. They make good gifts for preschool-aged children.
May Party- Julie Yates. It will be May 2nd at the Atlanta History Center. Please pay $320 to Julie Yates for the party which includes four tickets. There will be an email finalizing volunteers. And, there will be a guided tour of the Cyclorama construction beginning at 6:30 prior to the party.
NEW BUSINESS:
We will vote at the April meeting on the proposed bylaw changes.
Voting for our prospective three new Mimosa members will begin on-line April 2nd. It will end on April 16th. It is important for all members to participate. Please contact Margaret Glenn if you have any trouble logging on to the website.
We will also be voting on slate of new officers for 2018-19 at the April meeting.
