Reading and Approval of Minutes
● The April minutes have been posted and need to be approved. A motion to approve the April minutes was made by Blair Mann. A second was made by Mary Huntz. All were in favor.
● Officer Reports
● Second Vice President / Speech School / summarized by Parker Tekin:
○ Nothing much but chaos and end of school. Lots of visitors and the
garden is used all day, every day. Graduations and popsicle parties, outside classroom space now that the weather is warm – a perfect place for our preschoolers to release their butterflies
● Treasurer Report / by Parker Tekin:
Operating Account: $10,387
Savings Account: $7,879
Party Account: $17,298
After party expenses have been paid
Carry about 7,000 to use as seed money for future parties
The proceeds from the spring party ($10,000) will be distributed
as follows (Margaret’s suggestion)
● $6,000 to the Atlanta History Center Quarry Garden
● $4,000 to the Speech School
● Committee Reports
● State Garden Club Liaison/ Wawa Hines: Parker mentioned the letter to the Governor and First Lady Kemp that Mimosa is sending and passed it around the room.
● Party Chairs / Liles Thompson and Amanda Tucker: Parker thanked the Party Chairs for a FABULOUS party.
● New Business by Parker
○ Anna Muir has resigned
● A donation has been made by Caroline Davis’ in honor of the Allen family and all the past presidents, Louise Allen, Tricia Allen, Sally Allen, Parker Tekin and then Louise Moore. Kendrick Wiliams can decide what to do with it in the fall.
● Parker stated that the Mimosa year officially ends on June 30th, but this is our last meeting until the fall. She expressed a big thank you to the board and committee chairs for all of their hard work and time spent making this past year a success. She said:
○ Thank you to Kendrick for the beautiful new nametags, managing the hostess chart and coordinating the new members and their work with the flowers.
○ Thank you to Mary Ayres for keeping us informed about the Speech School garden and all the beautiful photos you shared throughout the year.
○ Thank you to Elkin for letting us know about everything happening at the Quarry Garden.
○ Thank you to Genie Gray, Amanda Orr and Mims Hill for taking good notes at our meetings for the minutes.
○ Thank you to Katie Bosckstedt and Leslie Neely for keeping us all in the loop by creating our meeting invitations and sending member email announcements.
○ Thank you to Margaret Warren for maintaining our books.
○ Thanks to Mary Mac for collecting our membership and dues and keeping
track of our attendance.
○ Thank you to Alden and Britt for planning interesting and informative
programs this year.
○ Thanks to Susan V and Jennifer R for hosting a lovely luncheon for our
new members back in August.
○ Thanks to Alden, Sarah and Mary Mac for leading our Amaryllis project.
○ Thank you to Jennifer for her technical savvy work and the many hours
she spent on website.
○ Thanks to Wawa for managing all the information we received from the
Garden Club of Georgia and keeping us informed.
○ Thank you to Jackie for keeping us in line with the by laws as the
Parliamentarian and thank you to
○ Jinny for preserving our history.
○ A very big thank you to Aimee for advising me all year on a regular basis and to the recent past presidents I consulted. You were so generous with your time and advice.
○ She then passed the gavel to our next fabulous president, Kendrick Williams.
